A relaxing way to end – or start – your week, leaving you at peace for the new week ahead. We focus not on performance, instead on the experience in the moment. Mel will guide you through easy to follow steps and moves that anyone can enjoy. Part way through the workshop, we will stop and come together to share and talk through what the dancing means to us. The session culminates in an enriching group dance, where you can choose to follow the workshop choreography or let the music move you your way.
What kind of music? What kind of dance? The music will stem from all over the world and will vary from deeply soothing to peacefully energising. The steps and moves will also be rooted in all the beauty the world has to offer and involve no overly complex sequences. The aim is the set ourselves free through moving to music, not to over-think. No dance experience required, open to all.
Why? We have been blessed with many languages; that of the spoken word, of our physical gestures and the language of sound and music. When movement of the physical body lines up with sounds, rhythms and melodies, we are able to transcend the physical and come in to contact with our true self. In these moments of alignment, we find inner peace. We can take this with us wherever we go, in dance and in life.
What do I wear? Come in comfortable, unrestrictive clothing. Yoga attire works perfectly. Barefoot or in socks.
*All means anyone over 18 years (those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult), any gender and any age so long as you are happy to follow low-mid energy dance instruction. Suitable for pregnant ladies past 3 months.
